PetFetch Mod


In a nutshell, a gambling feature accessed through the player's pet.

The mod would add a new tab to the pet's inventory, just after the Shopping List tab, which would simply be labelled "Fetch".

In this tab there would be a drop-down menu listing categories of items, IE.  1-handed sword, pistol, cannon, shield, etc. and possibly more general options such as "weapon" "armor", or "Any".  Below this would be an adjustable value of gold to "bet", probably in increments of one-hundred. With the Fetch tab active and a "bet" of any increment placed, the next time the pet is sent to town, it will bring back an item of the specified category to the player.

With the exception of special novelty results (The pet brings back a stick, or a ball, or an empty food dish, etc.) the item delivered will always be of the specified item category, and always near the player's current level. Perhaps within a tolerated offset of -2 to +2.  The value of the item will never exceed the "bet" amount, so placing the minimum "bet" will return only junk-quality equipment of appropriate player level. Very large bets would be required for a chance at high-quality loot, but receiving some junk anyways would always be a possibility; a cautionary message to any player foolish enough to entrust their entire life savings to their pet pomeranian.
